Think along the lines of point and realism…
What is the point of watching a PG-13 movie about Nazi’s from the Nazi point of view about the plot to kill Hitler.
How can someone seriously make a film about Nazi’s, and expect it to be realistic, and still get a PG-13 rating. I also found myself lost as to why the Nazi’s had various accents from across the world, but none sounded like they were German…
AND, the writing on certain forms (not all forms) was German, yet nobody spoke German.
Plus, everybody already knew (if they paid attention in history class) that Hitler committed suicide. So why waste your time watching a film about something that you know is not going to work in the first place, only to pull for a Nazi posing as a good guy, and all under a family friendly rating?
Need I say more?

Tom Cruise is one Hot Scientological mess! His EGO brightens this flick to a Crest White Strips sheen. I hope he’s cast when the musical version hits Broadway! I just know he’d look good in a dress. Then when the musical is made back into a movie let us all pray to Xenu that John Travolta gets the lead.

I found Valkyrie a let down. I did not take T.C seriously. I found him bland and ridiculous as an officer from the German side. He used his American accent which undermined the entire plot. It sounded stupid. I have never EVER watched a movie about Nazis that portrayed them with a US accent. It was ludicrous.
All the actors used their normal accents. It felt like the integrity of the story was gone when they find that. If it were not for the uniform it would absurd to figure out who they were. Dialogue could help but the first sight of them has you wondering what the heck is going on. I know the original story thank goodness for this rendition smelled so badly it needed air.
Oh, and Tom needs to go back to acting school. He stinks. All he did was walk around like a downer I am aware of the idea behind playing the officers down because of the mission and how they wished to be viewed, however, it was awful. It was obviously from a US perspective. Hey, I wonder if Singer will do another one and cast Hitler with blue jeans and a Hawaiian shirt. It would fit right in to the tone of this nightmare called Valkyrie. I cannot believe people liked it. It goes to show how little people actually know about good acting, and believable plots. At least make the accents real. What was he thinking? Yuck! I am glad I only rented it. I would never buy it. Yuck!

It’s a History Channel Docudrama with better acting and production quality. OK for that, I guess, but the whole flick is designed as a suspense thriller and virtually everyone knows the ending (if you don’t then by all means see it). Little dificult to build the suspense they try so hard for given that.
Not saying it might not be worth a look as a rental or on TV, but…you get the idea.

First Principle: This is a German tale; use German actors speaking their native tongue. Watch ‘Das Boot’ dubbed in English, then as originally broadcast, in German. Entirely different movies.
Second Principle: Cast the primary character properly…with a thespian who could convincingly play the part of von Stauffenberg.
Third Principle: Try palpable suspense. This team learned nothing from Zinnemann’s “The Day of the Jackal” with another conclusion, known going-in.
Fourth Principle: Most people are motivated primarily by self-interest…give that element of credibility to the conspirators.
It’s a movie…it doesn’t have to be historically accurate. “History”, as W Durant said, “is 80% prejudice and 20% guesswork”.
Hitler had a number of doubles. Consider your reaction if one of his doubles had been blown-up in the Wolf’s Lair and this entire enterprise had been for naught…
