(new account!!)
actually, it WAS my sister, douchebag. we share an account, why is that so hard to believe.
also, get a life…you just wrote like three REALLY long comments just to tell me off about a dumb movie. WOW i’m impressed! i really don’t give a fuck about what the movie was trying to say or whatever, point is it was pretty damn boring and LONG just to say “you can’t cheat death, bitch”.
also, fountain of youth and tree of life aren’t necessarily the same.
bitch

now that would be something,eh ? =) what an insufferable misdeed not to hand feed people with thoughts and feelings =)
December 3rd, 2009 on 6:46 pm
Too bad you can’t defend your opinion. Idiot.
December 3rd, 2009 on 6:47 pm
Meanwhile, I and my gray matter saw the story of a man and his desperate fight to cheat death, with the final message being that no matter how hard one tries, death is inevitable and instead of struggling so hard to find the fountain of youth that you miss the life you could have lived, you should accept death as part of life in itself.
See what a difference it makes when you actually apply your brain to what you watch?

You see, the Fountain is complicated. In it, there are things to think about. There are metaphors. There are intertwining storylines. And it’s pretty obvious you didn’t even try to think about it at all. You didn’t even use the four brain cells needed to connect “The Fountain” to the fountain of youth. So it makes sense that you saw “hugh jackman as a spaniard, a jackass and a bald guy running around, curing monkey tumors, floating in a bubble and turning into flowers.”
December 3rd, 2009 on 7:06 pm
Hahaha, oh wow. You actually used the classic “it was my little sibling that made me look dumb” lie. Backpedal harder, please. That was you and this is you. Next time, at least make an effort to disguise your writing.
It’s pretty obvious why you didn’t like the movie. You didn’t bother to use any part of your brain while watching. Lulled, perhaps, by all the media that hamfistedly pounds the point into your head, you just saw the barest surface of the point, and then promptly forgot it.

Replying for my sister, I mentioned the fountain of youth thing to her and she realizes that it and the tree are the same thing. She was pissed about being forced to watch something she had no interest in.
And yeah, philosophy is waaay too varied for people to really agree on. Other things have made her feel on deep levels, just not this particular movie. She just expressed her opinion.
December 3rd, 2009 on 8:02 pm
Yeah, why call it the Fountain! It’s not like there’s ever been a myth or legend about, say, a fountain of youth!
Oh. Wait.
I liked it -because- it didn’t handfeed me what to think and feel. But philosophical movies are usually hit-or-miss with people, and for you, it’s an obvious miss.
