I’d rather compare Tony Jaa with Jackie Chan and Jet Li… And leave out Bruce Lee as the only legend so far. He’s the only one who’s not alive now, after all.

no. bruce lee beat and surpassed everybody in his day and ours. he just wasnt a martial artist but also studied philosophy and had a greater understanding than anyone i have ever see or heard of. he was much greater than the movies even portray him. a true legend taught by a legend. i love tony jaa but i doubt if he passes now he will change the world and how we think about martial arts.

people are considering Bruce Lee as the “king” of martial art, but although he was good on films the reality is that there are people that surpass everyone we see in the films and we dont even know there name. dont get me wrong i love bruce lee but he not the best in my opinion. as a martial artist in film he was the best during his time, but now i think we need to consider a new king and tony jaa is in the top of the list.

To compare to great martial artist like LEE and JAA, is like comparing calibers of guns! One fundamental difference is philosophy. LEE had it JAA doesn’t. Doesn’t make them better martial artist, just the difference between greatness and Legendary.

Flashy is for movies! However, Tony Jaa is no joke! Tia fighting style was derived through brutal fighting raged between bordering nations. It is one of the pillars of the MMA community and with that being said, it puts that surreal aspect to movies when martial artist perform amazing feats of high flying skills. The lack of CGI is the reason I keep going back for more!

@Sillyjake86 agreed, bruce lee was an excellent martial artist that could have went in the direction many movie star martial artists do today, but his goal was not to be flashy so much as to display real fighting not gymnastics. though its not wrong to display a bit of both flashy and practical techniques, at least for entertainment purposes.

As far as being a king of MA i guess Bruce is ,well in the eyes of the world of film he is. the point im making is thats only coz we see him on screen so all hail him just imagine of the masters we dont see.. the ones that live off the screen… but if we our to up date to todays film world Jaa here is the best i have seen as far as films go Jaa here surpassed Bruce when he was like 5 coz damn this guy is bad ass….

Bruce did great things for Martial arts on film and in the eyes of the public but if he was alive today im sure he would say this its all so simple dont make it see so confusing many of the words he used twist what he said and make him seen so wise but if you know what he is saying its all so simple Bruce was the man no doubt!!! he must have thought many people where so stupid as i said even a retard can understand his words
November 29th, 2009 on 11:48 pm
Jeet Kune Do is Chinese boxing, i think your reading into it all too much… guys even a retard knows Bruce Lee said a lot of things but most of what he said is common scene about fighting. its just back then a lot of masters wanted style for example ..Tiger or eagle Bruce simply took the style away from it all.
muay Thai real Muay Thai anyways is also styleless when he said be like water he means be open for anything going in or out this is true way to fight and also live

I wouldn’t say “king”, but he started a new way we see MARTIAL arts on screen, and martial arts it’s self. Call me a fan boy or whatever you want, he knew his shit.
November 30th, 2009 on 12:48 am
no, anyone who acts as if Bruce lee is the king of martial arts clearly is a damn fanboy!
Jeet Kune Do is all about being fluid and using different martail arts in 1 stance! Rather than switching from Drunken to snake. Jeet Kune Do is using both Drunken and Snake at any time.

Nothing wrong with Bruce Lee, that man was a revolutionist when it comes to martial arts. And I openly say that anyone who disagrees is an ignorant fool. But, there are amazing martial artists out now taking martial arts to new places (atleast on screen).

off the elephants head… holy shit…
November 30th, 2009 on 2:57 am
Por lo q veo Tony jaa no innova en nada a la hora de pelear en esta pelicula si antes eran hombres sobre los cuales el corria ahora son elefantes y asi se siguen repitiendo varias tomas de accion similares a las de sus otras peliculas.
